23 Most Popular Articles 2023

2023 was the most successful year in the history of The Film Magazine. Over the course of the past 365 days, we have evolved our output to include video reviews posted to YouTube, weekly live video podcasts, themed weeks across social media (best exemplified on Instagram), and have – thanks to you, the readers – set an all-time record for most website visitors in a calendar year.

Your tastes in articles have been as eclectic as our choices in writing them. The following list of the 23 most popular articles of 2023 covers topics as wide ranging as Christmas movies, horror movies, short films, franchise villains, and even Marlon Brando’s acting method. While many sites are focused on instant-reaction hit-making “content”, our focus on covering cinema in-depth and from the perspective of it as an art-form has ensured that our relative success has not come at the price of our beliefs.

In this Movie List, as selected by you and your clicks, there are articles written by 15 different writers from (at least) 3 countries. The majority of writers hold degrees and post-graduate degrees in film and related studies, while others are studying their undergrads and their PHDs. Thanks to you, this highly intelligent, fiercely dedicated, wonderfully insightful team of fantastic writers can rest assured that their work is being read, and that it is being read in higher numbers than ever before.

In 2023, our team and a number of regular contributors wrote more than 500,000 words on cinema, all of which are freely accessible here on thefilmagazine.com. The following 23 articles are those words written in the 2023 calendar year that earned the most visitors. Please note, this list does not include articles that were written prior to 2023 but have since been updated.

We are delighted you’re here, but if you’d like to do more to ensure that all of this insight, analysis and evaluation sticks around, please consider donating to our website renewal fund via PayPal.
